Who should consult the Center for Sleep Medicine?

You should consult the Sleep Laboratory if you have one of the following complaints:

  • Difficulties with initiating and maintaining sleep (Insomnia)
  • Sleep-related breathing disorders, snoring
  • Chronic day sleepiness
  • Restless Legs Syndrome
  • Narkolepsy
  • Cyrcadian sleep-wake rhythm disorders, including shift work, jetlag etc.
  • Parasomnias, incl. sleep walking, bruxism etc.


In case of the described complaints please first consult your family doctor. He will advise you to the sleep center ambulance or to the sleep laboratory if necessary.

If additionally to the described symptoms you have one or several of the following diseases the necessity of a consultation by experienced sleep medical specialists increases.

  • High blood pressure
  • Excess weight
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Cardivascular disease, such as CHD, cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac insufficiency
  • Kidnea disease with a dialysis treatment
  • Cerebral blood flow disorder or apoplexy
  • Acromegaly
  • Thyroid disease
  • Psychiatric disease
  • Neuromuscular disease
